Does It Matter If You’re Black Or White

Written by Alex on April 15, 2015 - 6 Comments

15% of all new marriages are interracial ones.  At the same time, race is front and center in our national discussion now.  So, is race an issue or isn’t it?  Does it matter now if you’re Black or White?

I suppose it depends on who you ask.  So, I’m asking you.  Does it matter if you’re Black or White (or, indeed, Biracial).  What do you think and why?

It doesn’t matter to me but there are too many ppl who still make an issue of it. There are still racists of the old segregation days and more subtle racists who quietly think in terms of color coding their relationships.

This is apparent with all the white police shootings and abuses of black ppl that has inundated the news of late and it has always been that way. Some of this is prejudice and fear of the thug culture – applying that apprehension to all black ppl, many of whom themselves are also against such low-life, violent posturing.

So, as much as some of us live in a color-blind world, we know we are not a majority and the mainstream culture still sees ppl by their color.

I don’t think it should. Growing up all over the world, I didn’t even have the idea of one race “better” then the other. Moving to the US though, I noticed very quick that a lot of people always add the skin color to everything. Why is it important to know what color the person has?Why does it always have to be pointed out? We are all human, and there a good in every race and also some bad apples. I hope that I taught my kids that the person is important and not the skin, what is inside their heart and head. We have seen a lot of biracial families moving here (South Carolina) now, first when we moved here we didn’t see many.
For us as a couple (biracial) it has never crossed our mind that we could be different, as long as we lived overseas. In the US we do, sadly. But I am happy that there is change in the air.

Race matters, especially to those who believe the absence of a natural tan makes for a superior race. If the Creator chose to make those without natural tans superior, would they have to work so hard at making others inferior? Beginning with the claim that one must identify as Black if part of their genes are from a Black person. Genetics does tell the truth – the person is actually the genetic make up – MULTICULTURAL! There is nothing wrong with it.
