Multiracial Groundbreakers and Pioneers

One of the things I love the most about interviewing people for my podcast Multiracial Family Man is that I get to learn so many new things.

For example, on the most recent episode, I interview champion ice skater, Tai Babilonia and I learned that one of the reasons she was able to become who she became was because of her own pioneering and groundbreaking coach, Mabel Fairbanks, who was a woman of African-American and Seminole descent who was the first African American inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

To hear more about Mabel and her impact and influence upon Tai, please take a listen to the interview I conducted of Tai on the podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/multiracial-family-man-ep./id969793342?i=339795447&mt=2

In the end, the lesson I took away from this is that no matter who you are, no matter how great your accomplishments, you’re always building upon those who came before you.  So, every so often, it’s a nice thing to do to look back and tip your hat to those who helped you get where you are.
