Black History Month: Interracial Cooperation Without Morgan Freeman

Written by Alex on February 8, 2012 - 0 Comments

My wife is Black.  I am White.  Our son, Ivan, born just more than 5 months ago is Biracial.  That means that our 3-person family is exactly half-Black and half-White.

In honor of this year’s Black History Month, a couple of days ago, we put together a small film festival, a list of movies that demonstrate how Black and White can work together cooperatively and for the betterment of all.

It was a list of Morgan Freeman films.

Now, we’re expanding our film festival.  So, we’ve put together the TOP 10 BLACK GUY-WHITE GUY BUDDY FILMS NOT FEATURING MORGAN FREEMAN.

  1. Running Scared: Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal
  2. Lethal Weapon 1-4: Danny Glover and Mel Gibson
  3. 48 Hours: Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte
  4. In the Heat of the Night: Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger
  5. Blazing Saddles: Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder
  6. Silver Streak: Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder
  7. Stir Crazy: Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder
  8. Men in Black 1 & 2: Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones
  9. Kinky Boots: Chiwetel Eljiofor and Joel Edgerton
  10. Casablanca: Dooley Wilson and Humphrey Bogart

HONORABLE MENTION

Brian’s Song: Billy Dee Williams and James Caan

So that’s our list.  We hope you enjoy it.  And, if you have other films you’d like to suggest, we’d love to hear about those.

Meantime, we hope you are enjoying and exploring Black History Month.

As an interracial family, we’re partial to Black & White photography and film noir 🙂
