Notes From a Middle-Aged Dad #4

Dear Ivan:

Over the weekend, we took you to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  We did this because you seem to have a natural gift for art work, because you like the fountains outside the building, and, frankly, because we had to use the bathroom.

We were so very pleased to see how much you enjoyed yourself.  You took the map given to us by the Information Desk and then walked us through collections of arms & armor, Byzantine Empire arts & crafts, furniture displays from 18th and 19th Century Europe and America, and then through a hall of statuary.  I truly was amazed by your powers of concentration at things that put even most adults to sleep.

There were so many highlights (including how you pointed out the tushies of all the statues). But, the best highlight of all was that they had an indoor fountain (the outside one was turned off because of the cold), and when you threw a coin in, you wished out loud for more statues and cookies, which shows me that not only are you a true artist, you also have your priorities straight.

Good show, kiddo.

Love,

Dad
