No Rest For The Weary

Ordinarily on Friday, I’d post a about Shabbat, which is a day of rest.  But, this Friday, as we approach the end of Black History Month, it seemed fitting to celebrate some people who didn’t rest.

So, today, I’m giving a shout-out to Amelia Boynton Robinson, who is 103 today, and who was almost beaten to death during the 1965 March on Selma when she was 53 years old.

It is only because of people like Ms. Robinson, people who wouldn’t rest as long as injustice existed, that the Civil Rights Movement was able to advance.

So, as we rest this weekend, it is worth remembering that rest is a temporary thing.  If we want things to happen, want things to change, we need to activate and engage and not sit idle.
